Mr. President,
I guess being the top agent of a "sister country" that is
economically and morally bankrupt and politically corrupt must
not be an easy task, especially when you have to take orders from a Syrian
President who has made himself the "joke" of the international
diplomatic community; both here in the US and across the world.
Maybe you have access to classified information American intelligence services
are not even aware of, but your reaction towards your own people is absolutely bewildering.
A few questions we in the Diaspora have for you:
1. What are you trying to accomplish by directing our army to arrest freedom loving Lebanese? "Murder democracy
and freedom, kill dialogue and coexistence and simply assassinate
Lebanon?." If this is the intent Mr. President, congratulations. You have
accomplished your goal with flying colors. I don't recall any President
in Lebanon's history even coming close to you.
2. Are you now trying to punish Patriarch Sfeir for his glorious
accomplishments in the realms of reconciliation, consensus and dialogue, and
to discredit Walid Jumblat for his towering role in ending wars and
laying the foundation for a new Lebanon? If your answer is also yes, please
let us know. What do you care anyway? You will make the Syrians proud and I am
sure they are already planting the seeds for your next Presidential electoral
campaign.
3. Are we now coming to the conclusion that anybody who chants for
unity, cements mutual coexistence, or advocates national reconciliation
is now a conspirator, an insurgent and a Zionist imperialist
collaborator and Israeli agent? Please help me flush this out properly. We in
the Diaspora really need to come to terms with your "military
agenda" if you need our dollars to save your sinking ship.
4. Assuming we now have a military regime in place in
Lebanon under your brilliant leadership, could you please enlighten us as
to how you are planning to transform Lebanon into the next Hong
Kong, Silicon Valley or whatever other place your Syrian manipulated press is
pushing? I have been a student in geopolitics and geoeconomy for the last two
decades and I have yet to see a prosperous and open economy under such regime.
But what do I know? Maybe you could teach us, Wall Street capitalists, a thing
or two about how to marry people's prosperity with oppression.
5. One last thing, you mentioned a number of times alongside your
"visionary" minister Ghazi Aridi and other cronies in your
cabinet that you were not sending the
Lebanese Army to the South since you wouldn't want it to act as a buffer
between the courageous "resistance" and the Israeli army. Please allow me to ask: Does this mean that
defending Palestinian rights and the all sacred "Arab cause" and instigating a war with the Israeli Goliath
now takes precedence over Lebanese sovereignty over our own land? Would
sincerely appreciate your candid response, particularly regarding this subject matter.
Respectfully,
Ziad K. Abdelnour
